Cover the Cruiser Week

Colonel (R) Rondal Turner was one of the many guests who attended the Cover the Cruiser for SOKY Special Olympics athletes.  COL(R) Turner frequently tries to attend as many philanthropy events as he can fit into his busy schedule.  Fortunately, with such a special event, he was able to spend some quality time with the athletes, participants, and organizers. The event was organized by the Kentucky State Police and their Troopers in conjunction with the Special Olympics KY.

Special Olympics events always have a positive impact on the local community. The athletes and participants get to be a part of the community outreach, as well as the community getting to interact with the athletes, everyone involved had a great time. The Colonel was truly inspired by their dedication, determination, and athletic abilities. This is an important message that needs to be shared far and wide. This event represents such a good cause, COL(R) Turner as well as our organization is always happy to support such events.

KSP initiated the Cover the Cruiser fundraising event in 2020 when the annual Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run was canceled due to COVID-19. Each year, The Torch Run escorts the Special Olympics Flame of Hope to kick off the State Summer Games in Richmond, Ky.
